L'Oreal Infallible Foundation Blender Review & Photos

L'Oreal Infallible Foundation Blender
In the last instalment of my L'Oreal Total Cover Reviews comes the Infallible Foundation Blender. This blender is designed to work with the Total Cover Foundation to create a flawless base, so here's my thoughts...
Price
The Infallible Sponge retails for £5.99 and is available from Superdrug only.
Packaging
The sponge comes boxed with instructions located on the back, on how to use and care for this. The actual blender is a lovely tear drop shape with a flat side and precise pointy tip.
Application
In theory this seems like the most perfectly shaped blender that would work well with foundations, however in reality this isn't the best...

Upon application I used the sponge damp to apply the Infallible Total Cover Foundation, I think you'll have to watch my reaction to get a true feel for how this performed, but honestly this did nothing for me. I also tried patting the product on as I would with a beauty blender and although this was bouncy and felt lovely, unfortuantly non of the foundation blended into my face at all, it just sat on the top.

I also tested this out with a lighter foundation and tried swiping the product on using the flat edge, but again this did nothing to the overall finish of the foundation.

This sponge for me is very waxy to the touch and therefore it just doesn't absorb product the way a normal sponge would, which was a real shame as this had potential!
Overall Thoughts
I think you may have guessed this wasn't my favourite sponge I've ever used...

For me this just didn't distribute my foundation well, despite me trying this with several different types of foundations and applying it in a few different ways. However I did love the shape of this blender, and had this been made in a different material I think maybe this would have worked a lot better overall, as the shape was perfect.

In conclusion I think for the price there is certainly better sponges out there, including the Primark versions (dare I say it!) and if you've ever tried the Beauty Blender or the Real Techniques Sponges you'll know the texture of these is unlike anything out there on the market and that's why they perform so well.

I award the L'Oreal Infallible Foundation Blender a 1.5 out of 5

The Pay Day Lust List - April

The Pay Day Lust List - April

The Pay Day Lust List - April by pinkparadisebeauty
With payday upon us, I wanted to start a new series here on the blog, suitably named 'The Pay Day Lust List'. Every month I post about five products I've been lusting over, covering everything from  beauty, fashion and home decor. I would also love you to get involved and share with us some of your monthly lusts you'll be treating 'yo' self to each month. So with that said, here's my first five!
1. THE JUMPER DRESS - Boohoo.com
I got a tad attached to t-shirt dresses last Summer and this year is no different, except I'm more after jumper versions in Spring colours as here in the UK it's still a bit brisk! This one from Boohoo is exactly what I've been looking for and there is so many more to choose from in the perfect array of new season shades.

2. PASTEL NAILS - Essie
Just lately I've been totally obsessed with nude and pale pink nails, however I'm starting a new love affair with light blue shades again. This Essie shade in Perfect Posture from the Ballet Nudes Collection is a shade I've been swooning over for the past month and I think now it's time to the bite the bullet and add this stunning shade to my nail wardrobe.

3. LIP SCRUB - Dior
There's no better time than now to get your lips looking smooth and hydrated, ready for all those pretty spring and summer lip shades. Now usually I like a bit of the Lush Lip Scrub, but recently I've seen a ton of bloggers talk about how good the Dior Lip Scrub is, so naturally I feel like I need this in my life. I also like the idea of this being an easy to use, 'no finger dipping required' lip scrub!

4. OFF THE SHOULDER TOPS - Forever New
Last Summer, off the shoulder tops were just starting to become a thing and I did pick up one beautiful version from Miss Selfridge. However this year ruffles, cold-shoulders, large sleeves and off the shoulders have exploded onto the scene and I quite fancy the look of this powder blue version from Forever New.

5. PALM PRINTS - Chairish
Now that the clocks have gone forward and the lighter evenings are setting in, I've started to think about overhauling our garden and decorating it for Summer. Palm print has become huge lately and I've become quite attached to this print for the garden. I love these pillows from Chairish but I also spotted some identical dupes in Primark recently. I also have my eye on some palm print throws and candles if we want to dine alfresco in the evenings.

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation Review & Photos

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation
Following on for my review on the new L'Oreal Total Cover Concealer Palette, comes the Infallible Total Cover Foundation. This foundation is part of the #GOTITCOVERED campaign and claims to be long-wearing, matte and lightweight, so here's my thoughts...
Price
The Total Cover Foundation retails for £9.99 and comes in 7 shades. This also is a high coverage, matte foundation that is designed to disguise everything from redness to imperfections, acne to even tattoos! I picked this up in number 9, Light Sand.
Packaging
Again I really love all of the Total Cover Packaging as it's eye-catching and informative. Just like most of the Infallible foundation line, this comes in a easy to use squeezy tube.
Application
Upon application this has a thick, mousse like texture, but at the same time it feels lightweight on the skin too. It is recommend when applying this foundation you start from the middle of the face and blend outwards, then if needed you can apply a small amount to the areas that may require slightly more coverage. A little does go along way with this, so it's best to build it up in thin, even layers.

The overall finish is flawless and doesn't look 'cakey' at all, which is great as sometimes I find the more full coverage foundations can look a little too build up and nasty around certain areas of the face.
Longevity
Just like the packaging suggests, this is long-wearing which is great, however for me I did look a tiny bit shiny around my t-zone as the day went on, so I would suggest using a powder to set these areas.
Overall Thoughts
Firstly I have to say, I'm not generally a fan of matte foundations, but I did enjoy the overall look of this and the fact it covered up everything I needed it too. Now this is a bit more expensive than some of the other Infallible foundations within the line, however this isn't a bad price considering the way this performs overall.

Application wise, I really liked the way this applied and I loved the fact that it distributed nicely around the face. Just be sure though, to start with a small amount first and then you can go back in with a little more if needed. Finally I would recommend setting this with a tiny bit of powder too.

Overall I think this is a fantastic edition to the Infallible range and while I can't say if this works on covering acne or tattoos, what I can say is this is great if you love either a full coverage, matte foundation or you suffer from dark circles, redness or anything that needs that extra helping hand.

I award the L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation a 4.5 out of 5

Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara Review & Photos

Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara
I think it's safe to say I've tried my fair share of mascara's. It's something I love buying and I'm forever picking up new ones. This month Rimmel released an interesting looking mascara called the Volume Shake Mascara. Now this is unlike anything I've ever seen or heard of before as the Volume Shake claims to stay fresh right up until it's last use, so here's my thoughts...

Price
The Volume Shake retails for £8.99 for 9ml. However this is currently on an introductory offer of £6.99 at Superdrug in black only.
Packaging
As I mentioned above, this is not like your usual tube of mascara as it's larger and heavier thanks to the unique shaker inside that ensures the mascara stays fresh every time you use it. Inside the brush is a medium sized, full bristled wand.
Application
Upon first application the mascara is pretty wet and a tad messy to work with. I ended up doing three coats on the top and one on the bottom to achieve a lengthened and lifted result. I also found letting each coat dry a little was the best way to apply this mascara to achieve your desired look.

I did like the overall look, however I do think the consistency maybe needed to be a bit thicker and the brush, slightly narrower, so that it got right into the root of the lashes better.
Longevity
This had great staying power throughout the day without the worry of any transfer or flaking.
Overall Thoughts
I loved the concept of this mascara and the fact that it has a unique shaker that helps keep it fresh right up until the last use. However the consistency mixed with the big brush made it tricky to work with to achieve the best results and I do think the brush would work better if it was a bit thinner to compensate with the consistency of the mascara.

With regards to the shaker aspect I can't share with you my final thoughts on this just yet, so keep a look out for this in a future product empties post.

Longevity wise I had no problems with this and I did enjoy the overall look that the mascara gave, despite having to apply three coats as well as letting each one dry in-between.

Overall I do think this is expensive for a drugstore mascara taking into consideration the way that it performs, but I did like the concept as a whole. I'd love to know your thoughts if you've given this mascara a go too.

I award the Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara a 3 out of 5

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Concealer Palette Review & Photos

L'Oreal Total Cover Concealer Palette
The cult L'Oreal Infallible family recently released an add on to their collection in the form of the Total Cover System. The three step concept is designed to help you create the ultimate flawless looking base, using a variety of products including the new Full Coverage Foundation, Concealer Palette and Blender.

First up is the Total Cover Full Coverage Longwear Concealer Palette, so here's my thoughts...
Price
This retails for £12.99 and comes with two correctors and three concealer shades that can be mixed or customised to suit your needs/concerns.
Packaging
The packaging is striking, durable and informative, plus each pan has a decent amount of product in it too.
Application
Upon application these are intensely pigmented and creamy, and so a little certainly does go along way. The great thing about this palette is the concealer shades can be mixed to create your own custom shade and the correctors are perfect to brighten and neutralise various concerns.

If you are using either of the correctors first, then it is recommended you press these onto the skin and then follow up with a layer of concealer on top to cover. I actually found these worked equally as well without the need for the concealer on top, however everyone has different concerns and so it's best to do what works for you ultimately.

I used the green corrector with a brush on my redness and a spot I had. I then used the purple under my eyes and finally I went in with the lightest concealer shade over the spot again with my finger. Lastly I finished with the Total Cover Foundation.
Longevity
The concealers did a great job at keeping my redness, dark circles and spot at bay, thanks to their intense pigmentation.
Overall Thoughts
Out of all the concealer palette's I've tried in the past, I did like this the most, despite it being a little more on the expensive side for a drugstore concealer palette. The consistency and quality of each of the concealers is perfect, especially if you have a concern or area that needs that little extra coverage before foundation application.

I do love how the three beige tones can be mixed to create your own custom shade however it would be great to see this palette in two shade options with a wider selection of colours to suit a larger audience.

Longevity wise these really helped keep my concerns at bay and overall I think this is a fantastic drugstore concealer palette for anyone who prefers a more full coverage look or who likes to cover up anything from a spot, to rosacea and dark circles to acne. Either way this is a great palette to have on hand for all of those concealing emergencies!

I award the L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Concealer Palette a 4.3 out of 5

Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler Review & Photos

Maybelline Fiber Filler
If you've seen my review on the Micro Brow Pencil, then you'll know Maybelline have released a fair few products recently, including this Brow Precise Fiber Filler. I had been fond of the original Brow Drama Mascara, however my only qualm was the brush, as it made applying the product a little to much like hard work! Thankfully the Fiber Filler is on a whole other level, with a different wand and fibres included in the mascara, so here's my thoughts...
Price
The Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler retails for £7.99 for 8ml of product. The mascara also comes in three shades, Deep Brown, Medium Brown and Dark Blonde. I picked this up in Medium Brown.
Packaging
Just like the original, the outside packaging is very much the same, but inside is the exciting part! The wand is shaped like a small, flat tear drop, that houses very tiny, rubber bristles on the one side of the brush.
Application
Thanks to the genius brush, the product is incredibly easy to apply. The actual mascara is unlike anything I've ever seen before as not only does it have little tiny fibers in the mascara, it also has a slight shimmer which helps add dimension to the brows too.

I've been using this first all over my brows to define, then I've been going in with a pomade to fill in any remaining gaps to finish. I love how quick, easy and natural looking this is, however if you do have super sparse brows, you may need to use an additional brow product first.
Longevity
This lasted really well for me right up until I took this off. I have quite long brow hairs and the mascara really helped set my brows into place for the whole day, so much so that you may need an oily make-up remover to remove this at the end of the night.
Overall Thoughts
Gosh I loved this, I would even go as far as to say I prefer this to my beloved Benefit Gimme Brow! I know crazy right, but the reason why I loved this is because the consistency, 3D colour and added fibres make this an all together wonderfully, easy to use, brow mascara.

This is a little more expensive than the original Brow Drama, however the Fiber Filler is long-wearing and the brush is much a better shape, which helps make the product glide through your brows with ease.

As I mentioned above if you do have super sparse brows, then you may need to apply an additional product first, but overall this is fantastic at not only tinting the brows, but setting them into the place too. So if you're brows are in need of a bit of dimension, colour or you're short for time, then this may just be the brow product for you!

I award the Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler a 4.8 out of 5

Barry M Colour Correcting Wands Review & Photos

Barry M Colour Correcting Wands
This green corrector is the last post in my new release, one brand first impressions from Barry M. The new Flawless Colour Correctors are a cream formula and they are the latest edition to their colour correcting family, so here are my thoughts...
Price
The Colour Correcting wands retail for an affordable £4.49 and come in three colours that help correct various concerns including,
PURPLE - To brighten
YELLOW - To banish dark circles
GREEN - To neutralise redness
Packaging
I love the cute packaging and the fact this comes with a doe foot applicator for easy, precise application.
Application
I picked up the green corrector as I do get a bit of redness mainly around my nose, cheeks and chin.
As I mentioned above the doe foot applicator makes this easy to apply and pin point different areas of the face, however just be aware a little does go a long way.
Upon application the corrector has a lovely creamy consistency which blends out relatively well and once you have your foundation on, you cannot see any of the green corrector or redness peaking through.
Longevity
This lasted really well throughout the day with the exception of a tiny bit of redness on my chin right at the end of the night. But on the whole my face stayed neutralised and even looking.
Overall Thoughts
I loved these little correctors as they are compact, affordable and creamy. The green corrector that I picked up is especially great to target anywhere you may have redness thanks to it's easy to use wand applicator, but I particularly love the fact that there is three correctors to choose from to target a number of different concerns.

Longevity wise my redness was well covered for around ten hours with the exception of a little wear on the chin at the end of the night. Nevertheless I think these are great addition to anyone's makeup routine, especially if you're prone to redness, dark circles or dulness and for under £5 you can't go wrong.

I award the Barry M Colour Correcting Wands a 4.5 out of 5
