Pixi Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse Review and Photo's

Pixi Double Cleanse Review
Now, this has taken me a while to review, purely because I believe skincare is not something you can review after one use and I really wanted to completely finish the pot before I shared with you my final thoughts. So without further ado here's my review on the Pixi Double Cleanse...
Price
Double Cleanse retails for £24 for a 100ml of product (50ml in each) which I must admit sounds like a lot for a cleanser comparing it to the original Pixi Cleansing Balm that comes in at £18 for 90ml of product. But hey this is a double cleanser containing both a balm/oil and cream cleanser.
Packaging
I adore the packaging, it's pink, mint green and embossed with rose gold, need I say more... It also comes in a very informative box also.
The actual jar as I mentioned above is split into two, with one containing your Step One Solid Cleansing Oil and the other your Step Two, the Cleansing Cream.
Application
Both of the cleansers contain as Pixi put it 'Skin-Loving Ingredients' including,
Solid Cleansing Oil
- Camellia Oil
- Evening Primrose Oil
- Vitamin E

Cleansing Cream
- Peptide Complex
- Arginine
- Vitamin C
On the box, it is advised that you go in with a small amount of the solid cleansing oil first, that also removes sunscreen and makeup, and then you finish with your second cleanse using the cream cleanser. Both are to be removed with a damp cloth.

Upon application, I found both of the cleansers easy to use... The step one solid oil was light to the touch and broke down my makeup easily and efficiently, although you only need a tiny bit of this as a little really does go along way.

The step two cream to me was more like a cold cream but with a lighter feel to it, I did find I had to use more of this but nonetheless it did the job well as a second cleanse and neither bothered my sensitive hormonal ass skin! Both also left my skin feeling clean and soft to the touch.
Longevity
I used this every day with the exception of a couple of days here and there, and so the pot lasted me around two months in total. The balm/oil side actually ended up lasting me a week extra as I mentioned above a little goes a long way compared to the cream side.
Overall Thoughts
Personally, I have always been an avid fan of the double cleanse as I love the way it really ensures you get rid of all traces of makeup and dirt that builds up throughout the day. Usually, I always go in with an oily/liquid cleanser first then I will use a cream or balm cleanser after. This for me performed the same however, I didn't find this cleanser to be as pleasurable compared to other cleansing oils and creams I have used previously. Don't get me wrong I love the concept of having the convenience of both cleansers in one jar and I find this is especially good to take away for say a two-week holiday. I just expected the cleansers to be a little thicker in consistency and for them to have more of a scent to them considering they both contained such lovely ingredients.

Overall I adore Caroline and I have turned to her blog a lot in the last six months for various skincare concerns and so I admire her for bringing out a wonderfully thought out product that I can imagine is not easy to do as skincare is bewildering in its own right. However, I just don't think this cleanser was for me personally if I weigh up everything I look for including price when purchasing a cleanser.

I award the Pixi Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse a 3.9 out of 5

Definitely, let me know if any of you have used this and what you thought I would love to hear your thoughts too. Feel free to tweet me also @LauraPPBeauty.

5 Makeup Revolution Highlighters Totally Worth the Hype

Makeup Revolution Highlighter
Today I'm continuing my Drugstore Products Worth Buying Series and this time we're talking all things Revolution. Now Makeup Revolution has fast become one of my favourite drugstore Brands alongside Maybelline because they focus on fast, on-trend, affordable quality products that are completely accessible. However, if you're familiar with the brand then you'll know that there is A LOT of products they have and release on a monthly basis and so it's impossible for me to choose just five... So this one I'm breaking down into two parts as the two things I think they do amazingly well is eyeshadow palettes and highlighters.

In this post I'm going to be sharing with you my Top 5 Highlighters Worth Buying and then in Part 2 I will do the same with the Eyeshadow Palettes. Also be sure to give the corresponding video below a watch too and if you're not already Subscribed to the PPB Channel then feel free to do so here for more First Impressions, Reviews, Fashion, Lifestyle, DIYs and more.
Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette

1. Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette

First up we have the Revolution Radiance Palette which is an amazing dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. This comes in at £8 for three beautiful shades that are perfect for setting your concealer and foundation. I love this palette for everyday as all three of the shades are subtle and give you more of a beautiful glow from within rather than an intense glow.

Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar 2

2. Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar 2 Rose Gold

This 2nd palette is actually classed as a blush palette, but inside you actually get two lovely bronze/blush shades, one pretty blush and five stunning highlighter shades that can be worn alone, dusted across the decollate or as blush toppers. This palette is only £6 and is perfect for anyone is highlighter obsessed just like me!

Makeup Revolution Stobe Highlighter Radiant Lights

3. Makeup Revolution Strobe Highlighter Radiant Lights

Radiant Lights is another beautifully, wearable everyday shade, that's insanely affordable too! This £3 highlighter is very similar to the radiance palette with a little more punch. I adore this as a cheek highlighter as it' has a lovely pink hue with a subtle silver undertone.

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighters

4. Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighters

These next highlighters you may recognise from my recent first impression here. I won't talk too much about why these are so amazing as if you watched my review you'll already know. But what I will say is these tremendously versatile highlighters are wonderful dupes for the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops and the best part they are only £6!

Makeup Revolution Unicorn Heart

5. Makeup Revolution Unicorn Heart

This last highlighter I had to include in this lineup. The Unicorn Heart is actually from the younger sister brand I Love Makeup. This beautifully packaged highlighter is only £5 and is such a fun one to add to your collection if you're either a total highlighter hoarder or you adore anything unicorn themed. This intensely pigmented heart has five different shimmery shades that can be swirled all together to create the ultimate cheek highlighter or you could use any of the shades individually as shadows or blush toppers also.

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter Review & Swatches - Custom FX Custom Enhancer Dupes?

Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter Unicorn Elixir, Starlight, Champagne, Bronze and Rose Gold
The Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighters are the newest launch to the Revolution family, and I have to say when I first saw these I got a little bit over excited as firstly I could see there was a Unicorn one and secondly because these look extremely similar to the cult Custom FX Enhancer Drops! So here's everything you need to know about these including my personal thoughts...
Price
The collection consists of 7 liquid highlighters that retail for £6 each for 18ml of product, whereas the Cover FX Drops retail for £34 for only 15ml of product. Here's a rundown of each of the shades...

1. Unicorn Elixir > Similar to Halo from Cover FX
2. Starlight > Cover FX Celestial
3. Champagne > Cover FX Sunkissed
4. Luminous Gold > Cover FX Sunlight
5. Bronze Gold > Cover FX Candlelight
6. Lustre Gold > Cover FX Moonlight
7. Rose Gold > Cover FX Rose Gold

Packaging
The packaging on these is stunning and I love the fact that each bottle has a colour coordinated label to correspond to the shade inside. The bottles are actually glass and come with a pipette applicator, that allows you to control how much you use.
Application
The actual liquid is very concentrated so it can be used and customised in many different ways. I've been testing out the five colours I picked up to share with you, so here are a few suggestions on how you can use each of the shades. Also be sure to watch my live demo in the video linked above so you can see the products in action.

Illuminating Base

Add 1 drop of Starlight to any regular face moisturiser and mix away to create an illuminating glow to the skin.

Strobe Cream

Mix 1 drop of Unicorn Elixir again to any regular face moisturiser to give you the ultimate glistening base.

Dewy Foundation Base

Mix 1-2 drops of either Starlight or Champagne to a non-glowy Foundation to amp up any make-up look.

Cheek Highlighter

Use 1 drop of the concentrated formula with a damp sponge and apply directly to the tops of the cheeks, cupids bow, brow bone and nose.

All Over Party Glow

Mix 2-3 drops to a regular body moisturiser to give you the most stunning all over glisten. This is perfect for the party season or if you want to show off your Summer holiday tan.

Custom Cocktail

Mix two of the highlighters together to create your own custom illuminating cocktail base.

A few takeaway tips for you to remember...

I recommend starting off with one drop when mixing the liquids and then building up the intensity as desired, but the world is your oyster when it comes to these highlighters as there are just so many different uses for them, which I love.

The actual consistency of these as I mentioned above is a very smooth concentrated liquid that is not glittery at all, with the exception of the Unicorn Elixir that has a slightly chunkier formula if used alone.
Revolution Unicorn Elixir
Revolution Liquid Starlight
Revolution Liquid Champagne
Revolution Liquid Bronze Gold
Revolution Liquid Rose Gold
Longevity
These lasted exceptional well throughout the day especially if you're using them alone as a highlight or mixed in with a body moisturiser. However, if you are mixing the highlighters in with your foundation or face moisturiser and you're putting them underneath products i.e powder/bronzer/blush they will last, but they may not show through as well compared to wearing them on their own, I hope that makes sense, if not please watch my final thoughts at 11.42 in the video where I explain it better!
If you want to see the Unicorn Elixir in action skip to 12.20 in the video to see how stunning this is in real life!

Overall Thoughts
Firstly price wise these are exceptional great value for money anyway considering how much you get in the bottle and the fact you don't need to use too much. And comparing them to the cult Custom Enhancer Drops, these are honestly a total steal if you can't quite stretch to the £34 Cover FX price tag.

I adore the premium quality packaging, selection of shades and versatility, however, for me I did find the pipette applicators a little hard to pick up enough product out of the bottle if you need more than one drop, but on the whole, these are relatively easy to use.

Application wise I advise following my take away tips up above for foolproof application and just remember it's better to start with just the one drop first and then add more if desired.

Overall I loved these Liquid Highlighters as they are truly one of those WOW, must-have products and if you're a massive fan of Makeup Revolution or Highlighters in general and you're looking for something a little different to add to your collection, then I highly recommend taking a peek at these!

Finally, Makeup Revolution continues to amaze me by pioneering the drugstore market with affordable, on trend quality products and I'm forever excited to see what they will come up with next...

I award the Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighters a 4.9 out of 5

The Liquid Highlights are available in Superdrug stores from the 20th September or if you must get your hands on them ASAP, then head on over to the Tam Beauty or Superdrug Website to get yours now!

5 MAC Lipsticks I'm Crushing On For Autumn

MAC Lipstick Shades in Mehr, Velvet Teddy, Brave, Twig and Rebel
Well, I think it's safe to say Autumn has certainly arrived and so begins my love for everything Autumnal. I always adore all the new seasonal colour palettes that roll around each year and I'm forever exciting to see what will be trending in Make-up, Nails and Fashion. Today I wanted to kick off a series of 'Autumnal' themed posts with a look at my five favourite MAC Lipstick Shades for Autumn...
MAC Mehr
MAC Mehr is actually classed as a 'dirty pink' on the MAC website. This matte formula has a blue undertone and is one of those must-have deeper shades of pink that goes perfectly with any Autumnal make-up look. You can also pair this with one of MAC's best-selling Lip Liners, Soar.

MAC Velvet Teddy
If you haven't heard of Velvet Teddy, then girl you need to! This shade is one of MAC's bestsellers as it's such a wearable matte. And if you're a lover of nudes, then this medium beige ticks all the boxes for the colder months. MAC recommend pairing with this Boldly Bare Lip Pencil for the ultimate lip combo.

MAC Brave
This is probably one of my favourite MAC shades, alongside my Wedding shade, Angel. Brave is a beige/pink with a satin finish and this colour just looks great on anyone, it's just such a flattering shade that's not too dark or light, but somewhere in between.

MAC Twig
Another satin finish, MAC Twig is to me a slightly more intense redder version of Brave. So if you're after something with a deeper undertone for Autumn, then this is the shade for you. MAC suggests pairing this with Half Red Lip Pencil.

MAC Rebel
It wouldn't be Autumn without a berry shade in the mix. I love Rebel as it's such a lovely shade if you want to dress up an outfit for a date night or drinks with the girls. Rebel is described as a 'midtonal plum' on the MAC website. This colour can be teamed with a lip liner such as Vino or the matching Rebel Lipglass.
